David M.Massey is an Academy Award-Nominated filmmaker with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications & Education from Ohio Dominican University and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Advanced Film & Television from the American Film Institute. He is the first African American in the history of the Academy Awards to be nominated for an Oscar in the Live-Action Short Film category withLast Breeze of Summer (1992).Massey is the former co-chair of the Black Association of Documentary Filmmakers, West (BADWest) He held that position for fourteen years when he was hand-picked by the founder, Saint Clair Bourne, in 2007.

A former radio announcer and television sports reporter for WBNB TV, a CBS affiliate in US Virgin Islands, Masseyhas produced and directed several films and television shows. Men of Courage is an hour docudrama that received a NAACP Image Award and aired on BET. Dare to Struggle, Dare to Win,a documentary on the 31st December Women’s Movement in Ghana, West Africa, led by the former First Lady of Ghana. Fespacoisa feature documentary narrated by Danny Glover on Africa’s largest and oldest film festival. Nature’s Little Secrets, is a film promoting the people, events and beauty of the British Virgin Islands. Under theUCE Productions banner, Massey produced sixshort films including Island Songthat won the Audience Award at the Pan African Film Festival in 2013. When Justice Isn’t Just, a short documentary distributed by First Run Features in 2015 examined the law enforcement shootings of unarmed AfricanAmericans.

Massey’s latest projects are Where We’re Froma feature doc that chronicles theLA independenthip hop movement in the early 90s is being distributed by Shout Studios; Not All Lostis a reality-based, celebrity driven PBS television program has aired in over hundred PBS markets; Hinika, in post was photographed in rural Ethiopia, documents the opening of a new hospital and medical school; Medical Racism: The New Apartheid, scrutinizeshealthcare in the Black community and Africa;Tip of the Spear, depicts a historical overview of the Congressional Black CaucusandPassage, a live-action filmmovieset in1600 Western Africa is a 2021 Academy considered movie.

Massey has been the recipient of several prestigious awards, including The Martin Ritt Scholarship; the 2011 PBS Innovation Award; the National Education Association “Advancement of Learning Through Broadcasting” award; the Heartland Film Festival’s Crystal Heart. He is also an Eastman Kodak Second Century Honoree. Additionally, Massey is a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, serves on the Oscar qualifying festival committee and the Student Academy Awards committee.

Evangeline is a lawyer, author and publisher, non-profit founder, social entrepreneur, and documentary filmmaker. Her short documentary Becoming Black Lawyers is currently on the national and international film festival circuit and has been screened at over 40 film festivals.

It has earned several awards including “Best Documentary Short” from the Hollywood South Urban Film Festival (Atlanta, Georgia), the Paris International Film Awards (Paris, France), the Stockholm City Film Festival (Stockholm, Sweden), Tokyo Shorts (Tokyo, Japan), and the San Antonio International Black Film Festival (San Antonio, Texas). It won “Best Film” at the Black Feedback Film Festival and “Outstanding Documentary Short” and the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival (Cleveland, Ohio). It is the winner of the “Audience Choice Award” in the Documentary Short Film Category at the Topaz Film Festival Presented by Women in Film Dallas (Dallas, Texas), Best Documentary in the Queens Underground Black and Brown International Film Festival (Jamaica, New York), and “Best Social Impact Documentary Short” Award at the Urban Mediamakers Festival (Atlanta, Georgia). Notably, Evangeline received one of five top honors as the “Jury’s Choice – Best Documentary Short” award winner from the Montreal International Black Film Festival (Montreal, Quebec Canada), the only American filmmaker to receive one of the highest awards this year from 130 films officially selected from 30 countries.

Evangeline earned a bachelor of arts in English from Prairie View A&M University, a master of education from Harvard University, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa.

Stacie is an educator, author, and filmmaker who is currently directing and producing a documentary entitled Robbed: A Mother’s Peril – The Kelley Williams-Bolar Story. When Kelley, a divorced mom, enrolls her daughters into school, she doesn’t realize the fight of her life begins when her actions are deemed criminal.

Stacie is the founder of School Dismissed LLC, a film production company that bridges education, film, and law. She has taught across the United States and in Japan and Kuwait. She was the host of Teacher Talks on TRIBE Family Channel for three seasons.

In 2018, she resigned from the teaching profession and wrote a book entitled “School Dismissed: Walking Away From Teaching” where she described why she left the teaching profession. Her upcoming book is called “School Dismissed: Beyond The COVID-19 Pandemic” which discusses some of the problems that existed in the educational system prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and solutions beyond the pandemic.

Stacie earned a bachelor of arts in social welfare/education from the University of California Berkeley, a master of education from Howard University, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver – Sturm College of Law.

Jay is the writer/director and nephew of Alfred Jenkins and as such created this project with a deeply-felt commitment to telling Al’s story with the care and respect it deserves. “There are lots of people using documentaries to tell stories and it is time for us to tell our own stories,” according to Jay.

Jay is currently the producer and director of the critically-acclaimed feature-length documentary Inglewood Morning Sessions starring NBA legend Paul Pierce and Inglewood Police Lieutenant Scott Collins. After graduating from high school, Jay went on to Cal State University San Bernardino where he received a bachelor of arts degree in mass communication. After college, he attended the Academy of Art San Francisco and received a master of fine arts in film and television. His directing credits include The Young Believers, Searching for Mentors, Dana Dilemma, and Inglewood Morning Sessions.
